Lagos, Nigeria is to host the 2nd edition of the ‘Football Player Representation Seminar’ on 5th and 6th February, 2015. The 1st edition took place in Johannesburg, South Africa on 26th and 27th November, 2014.
Top on the agenda of the Seminar is discussion of the new FIFA Regulations on Working with Intermediaries, which upon coming into force on April 1, 2015 will significantly alter the current system of licensing of Player Agents. Some innovations under the impending Regulations include:
- an end to the system of licensing of Player Agents, to be substituted with ‘Intermediaries’, registered to represent a player or a club for a particular contract or transfer negotiation;
- an Intermediary is prohibited from earning more than 3% of a player’s gross income;
- A legal or natural person (i.e. either a human being or a company) may act as an Intermediary.
In addition to the above, issues such as managing player agency contracts, image rights, dispute resolution, etc. will be discussed at the Seminar, which is a must-attend for Player Agents and Managers, Clubs and Football Administrators.
